- MENSA for Kids Summer Reading...
summer reading
I cannot believe that we are winding down our academic year! Soon summer will be here! Many of you have communicated with me recently regarding summer enrichment opportunities. I am hoping that this letter will satisfy your requests.
I am firm believer in reading to increase vocabulary acquisition, to learn history, and to enhance critical thinking and analysis skills that are so necessary in this world today. I will give your children a rigorous reading list from MENSA for Kids, a prestigious academic organization for the highest learners in the world. According to the proposed reading challenge from MENSA, students who are gifted should complete the list in one calendar year. Please visit the website for more information (listed below). This is certainly not a requirement, but a suggestion. Many of these books are free online or may be borrowed from a local library. I hope the students take up the challenge!
For students who are interested in STEM opportunities, there are some great day programs offered with state-of-the-art technology close to home. Our IU29 in MarLin, PA is offering MakerSpace day camps for a nominal fee. I attached a link to my web page for information, or you may visit www.iu29.org/domain/142 for more information.
