Welcome to Our Super Class!!!Hello Parents/Guardians!
My name is Katelyn Collevechio, and I will be your child’s speech-language pathologist for this school year. I am very excited to be working with your child, and I am looking forward to a lot of progress! I am a native of Summit Hill and a recent graduate of La Salle University in Philadelphia, where I received my masters for speech-language pathology.
As I looked forward to the beginning of school, I wanted to choose a theme that would be a positive recurring topic throughout the entire school year. My theme for this year is “superheroes” and all of the great qualities that encompass a superhero. My goal for this year is to incorporate this theme into each of my speech therapy sessions. It is important to bring forth the positive and supportive idea of being a superhero for each child to encourage him/her to use “super” speech and language skills consistently.
I will be sending home weekly homework activities for your child to practice his/her speech and language skills. These activities will come home on a small yellow sheet in your child’s speech and language folder, which I will provide. Some activities may be done with a parent while others may be done independently. I do ask that one parent initial the activity completed by the child in order for me to ensure that the child has done the homework assigned by me for the week. These homework activities are not graded. They are designed to encourage your child to practice the skills worked on in therapy. My hope is that by practicing what he/she has learned in therapy, your child will progress in his/her skills and begin to carry those skills over to environments outside the speech therapy room.
Communication with one-another is a key component to progression in therapy. I am available via phone or email if you wish to speak, so please contact me with any questions or concerns. I am eager for this school year to begin, and I look forward to speaking with you in the future!
