    Attention

    IMPORTANT UPDATE: 5/27/20

Students with Tech handouts both Chromebooks and WiFis/hot spots should be handed in at Tamaqua Elem on Thursday June 4, 2020 from 11am-3pm or 4:30pm - 6pm.

Any remaining elementary textbooks should be returned on June 4, 2020 from 11:00am - 3:00pm.

    5/26/20

    1. View your weekly assignments here. Get caught up on missed work. You need to complete 70% of each subject's work to earn a "satisfactory" for the 4th quarter. Less than that would result in an "unsatisfactory." Check MMS then GC to see missing work. You should have completed at least 10 LA assignments, 14 Math, 7 Science, 16 Reading and WinLab, and all 3 of our Social Studies quizzes.

It's been a great year. I hope you enjoyed fifth grade even with the crazy, at home learning. I missed the last two and a half months we could've had in school.

Have a wonderful summer and GOOD LUCK in 6th grade!!

    5/18/20

    1. View your Weekly Assignments here. EVERY activity and assignment is REQUIRED to be completed. Nothing is optional unless specified. You MUST complete ALL work to earn full credit and "blue" on the incentive chart. This means you need to complete guided practice questions on slides, watch videos on Pearson or other platforms (teachers can see if you watch them or not), receive a certain Smart Score on IXL, and complete your Social Studies assignments. The incentive chart will be posted on GC Monday Morning.

    2. Read ALL the directions for every assignment and activity to make sure you complete ALL components. Attach, upload, or add your FINISHED work to Google Classroom before you turn it in. Do not turn in blank or incomplete work. Let a teacher know if you are having a difficult time moving or manipulating activities on GC. We will walk you through it or make accommodations as needed.

    3. Check your Google Classroom daily. Teachers will return your work with comments, grades, and sometimes corrections you need to make. If/when a teacher comments to complete something you forgot to do, you need to complete it and then resubmit it for credit. If you don't redo/finish work, it will be considered incomplete and you will not get credit.

    4. Work assigned on a Monday (5/18/20) is always due the next Sunday (5/24/20). These due dates and timelines are listed on the Weekly Overview, websites, Google Classroom, and Remind. The teachers have given you everything you need to get your work done in the time frame.

    5. When you finish this week's work, go back to complete any missing assignments. Also, view your grades on MMS.

Good luck with this week's assignments and let me know if you have any questions!

    3/16/20

    Hi, guys and gals!

I know things are a little bananas right now, and hopefully things will calm down and get back to normal in the coming days and weeks.  Until then while you're at home, please check my website daily to see any activities you could be practicing. You could always work on IXL skills and read, read, read! Keep a journal about what you do each day, how you're feeling, a fun story, whatever! It can be short or long and send it to me on Google at nnicholas@tamaquasd.org...I can keep in touch with you about my crazy quarenteened house too! I'll have some things posted on my Google Classroom in your LA classes eventually.

It might be odd being at home and it might feel a little "vacation-ish" to some. For now get good sleep, get outside, be positive, stay healthy and motivated, drink lots of water, wash your hands, cooperate and listen to your families, help out around the house, and soon enough we'll be back to school catching up on our time off and enjoying our normal routine again!

I'll talk to you soon :)

Hello! Welcome to a new school year at Tamaqua Elementary!  My name is Noelle Nicholas.  I am thrilled to be teaching fifth grade again this year. My teaching experiences include a long-term substitute teacher at Tamaqua Middle School, four years at Schuylkill Haven Middle School as a fifth grade teacher, and the last three years at Tamaqua Elementary. I'm originally from the Hazleton Area. I love to spend time with my husband, our chocolate lab, and our beautiful daughters, Grace, (and the twins) Lily, and Paige. I am excited for this new school year and all the fun adventures to begin!

Fun things about me: I love spending time with my family, watching HGTV, and eating chocolate. Reading on my Kindle is my favorite hobby.

If you have any questions for me during the school year, you may call the school at 570-668-3306 or email me at nnicholas@tamaqua.k12.pa.us. I will try to return your call either after school or during any available planning periods. Please allow me 24 hours to return your call or email.

Fifth Graders: Be sure to set a good example for your younger classmates. You should be displaying and abiding by the Raider Rules. Be respectful, have a positive attitude, work on being independent, show your determination, be enthusiastic and responsible, and ultimately you will see success.
