    Course Description 

     This class will be a continuation of your prior studies of the history of the United States.  It will begin with the Stock Market Crash & Depression (1929 - 1933) and end with Entering a New Era (1992 - Present).

    Unit Topics:

    Unit 1 Stock Market Crash & Depression

    Unit 2 The New Deal

    Unit 3 World War II

    Unit 4 Cold War

    Unit 5 1940s & 1950s

    Unit 6 1960s & Vietnam War

    Unit 7 1970s

    Unit 8 1980s

    Unit 9 1990s

    Unit 10 2000 to Present

     

    Testing and Assessment:       

    Your grade each quarter will be based on the following criteria:

    • Google Chromebook Tasks (Homework/Classwork)

    • Test and Quizzes

    • Group Work and Class Work Assignments

    • Projects                           

    • Class Participation (in class and discussion boards)

    I will be using a point system to calculate your grades. Example, if we have 1000 total points for the quarter, and you have 900 points, your grade would be a 90%



    Necessary Classroom Materials:

    • Google Chromebooks

    • Writing utensil

    • Folder

    • Notebook

     

    Classroom Rules:

    • Arrive to class each day on time and with all your materials.

    • Talk only when permitted.

    • Raise your hand when you have something to say.

    • Stay in your assigned seat at all times.

    • Treat others with respect

     

    Cell Phone Policy:

    Cell Phones are not to be USED DURING CLASS TIME. Cell phones may only be used at the discretion of the teacher. As per new Board Policy, cellphones are to be either kept in the student’s locker. or will be asked to be put in the cell phone holding racks found in each classroom.  If cellphones are seen being used during class without the permission of the teacher, it will result in a report/write up to the officer per the new policy. Constant violation of this rule will result in further violations/write ups.. I understand emergencies happen, so please contact me and the office if such events happen. 


    Chromebook Policy

    Chromebooks will be used in class when students are completing work that requires an internet connection. You are required to bring your chromebook everyday to class. The teacher will instruct you on when you use your chromebook. When chromebooks are not being used, they are to stay shut on your desk until the teacher instructs you to use them. 

     

    Email:

    If any questions may arise during the class you may ask me in person, or send me an email. If you choose to send me an email, here is when you can expect a reply from me. Any emails received by 3 will be answered in a timely fashion. Emails after 3 I ask for a 24 hour time period to give a response back. I may answer before the 24 hour period, but this I can not guarantee. Emails over the weekend may require a 24-48 hour response time. My email is jberezwick@tamaquasd.org

     

    Academic Honesty:

    Cheating, in any form, is unacceptable and will result in immediate Level 2 referrals to the office and a parent-teacher-administrator-student conference. 

     

    Latework/Academic Sessions

          If a student does not complete an assignment in a timely manner, it is up to the teacher to determine what grade you will receive on the assignment. Please make a conscious effort to do your work on time. If an unforeseen event arises, please contact me and we can sort things out! If a student is missing 5 or more assignments, they will be asked to start staying after school to work on their past and current assignments. 

     

    School Absenteeism 

    If a student is absent from school, it is his or her responsibility to make up any work missed. PowerPoint notes and assignments are posted on Google classroom.
