National Honor Society

  • National Honor Society will be open to any junior or senior wishing to apply for the 2024 - 2025 school year. (This is by invite only)

    Service Hour Requirement:

    Juniors: 10 hours during summer, 15 during junior year

    Seniors: 10 hours during summer, 15 during junior year.

    Summer hours are due on the first day of school.  There are no exceptions. 

    Please note: Summer hours are required with your application.  Completing these hours does not guarantee your acceptance into NHS.

  • Selection of Members:

    Article VI:

    Section 1: To be eligible for membership, the candidate must be a member of the junior class.  Candidates must have been in attendance at Tamaqua Area High School the equivalent of two semesters.

    Section 2: Candidates must have a cumulative scholastic average (Career G.P.A.) of at least 93. Candidates shall then be evaluated on the basis of service, leadership, and character.

    Section 3: The selection of members to the chapter shall be by a majority vote of the faculty council.

    Section 4: There shall be no disciplinary action held against a candidate for (1) year before applying.
