Instrumental lessons are open to any student who wishes to take lessons on an instrument of his/her choice. Lessons will be limited to band instruments only. Lessons will be given from method books and music designed to foster better musicianship. All lessons will be given weekly. Students must provide their own instrument.

    Grading:

Students must attend lessons on a weekly basis. All students begin the marking period with a 100%. There is a 4 point deduction from your overall grade for each missed lesson. If you have a test or quiz in your regular class, you MUST take that test or quiz. If there is extra time in the period, you should come to your lesson. Please communicate with me if that is the case.

Because band is a class, students must attend all band rehearsals Tuesday and Thursday. All students begin the marking period with a 100%. There is a 4 point deduction for forgetting your instrument or missing a rehearsal unless there are extenuating circumstances, which you will need to discuss with me. There is a 3 point deduction for forgetting your music and a 1 point deduction for forgetting a pencil. Students are required to attend both evening concerts. There will be a 10 point deduction if a student misses a concert unless there is an emergency or a student is absent from school. The dates for both concerts are included in this syllabus.

Students must remain in Middle School Band/lessons for the whole year.

    There are no exceptions!

In the event of a two-hour delay, students will follow the normal lesson schedule.  If your lesson was during the delay (7:30-9:30), you will not have lessons that day.
