Meals For Virtual Learners


                The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture recently announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will extend several flexibilities for school meals throughout the remainder of 2020. “As our nation reopens and people return to work, it remains critical our children continue to receive safe, healthy, and nutritious food,” the USDA said.

                Beginning on Monday September 21st Tamaqua Area School District will offer a FREE breakfast and FREE lunch to each virtual learner. They must be a student enrolled within the district. These meals will be available for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.

                Parents/guardians are allowed to pick up students meals, but only meals for virtual learners that are enrolled in the district. Pre-ordering is no longer required for those picking up virtual meals--you can simply show up to whichever pick-up site is most convenient for you and you will be provided with meals. Pick up sites and times are as follows:

    • High School/Middle School: Mondays and Wednesdays at 2:15pm behind high school, near loading dock

    • West Penn Elementary: Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30am near rear exit

     *Please note, in cases of 2 hour delay, cancellation, or early dismissal on distribution days, meals will not be available for pick-up.
