Students Eat For Free!

Meals For Virtual Learners


                The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture recently announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will extend several flexibilities for school meals throughout the remainder of 2020. “As our nation reopens and people return to work, it remains critical our children continue to receive safe, healthy, and nutritious food,” the USDA said.

                Beginning on Monday September 21st Tamaqua Area School District will offer a FREE breakfast and FREE lunch to each virtual learner. They must be a student enrolled within the district. At this time the free meals for all students will only run until December 31, 2020 or until funding is no longer available.

                Parents/guardians are allowed to pick up students meals, but only meals for virtual learners that are enrolled in the district. Families are provided with a link to pre-order meals for the week. This form must be completed by Friday for pick-up the following week. Below is the information for pickups.

    • High School/Middle School: Mondays and Wednesdays at 2:15pm behind high school, near loading dock

    • Tamaqua Elementary: Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30am near rear exit

    • West Penn Elementary: Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30am near rear exit

                *If you have children in multiple grades, you may pick-up at 1 location.

                Monday’s pick-up will have breakfast and lunch for 2 days, Wednesday’s pick-up will have breakfast and lunch for 3 days.
