    About Ms. Abby Shumgart

         As a 2015 graduate of Tamaqua Area School District, Ms. Shumgart moved forward with her education to chase after her artistic dreams after falling in love with the art program in high school. Through wonderful opportunities provided by her alumni school district, Ms. Shumgart completed two years at Lehigh Carbon Community College with a major in Fine Arts. After realizing that this wasn't enough to put the educational desire at ease, she pursued her journey further to attend Kutztown University of Pennsylvania where she completed two more years of higher education to receive her B.S. in Art Education with a concentration in Painting and the Magna Cum Laude honor in December of 2019. 

         Ms. Shumgart enjoys spending many hours playing with her wonderful and unique pets. Having three cats and five dogs to entertain, you could only assume this occupies the majority of her home time! One of her favorite activities is spending time with family and friends at home, but she really appreciates having time to herself to just take a great nap with the dogs!

     

    Some of Ms. Shumgart's favorite art mediums include: watercolor, acrylic paint, oil paint, weaving, photography, and ceramics

     

    As a new educator, Ms. Shumgart is incredibly passionate and ambitious about the arts in education and she can't wait to see your student in her classroom soon!
