Daily Classroom Instruction
The purpose of the life skills classroom is to teach children to become more independent with daily living skills at home, at school, and in the community.
Our daily classroom instruction includes:
- Reciting and writing personal information (name, address, phone number, and birthday)
- Letter and sight word recognition
- Basic reading/writing skills
-Basic math facts/concepts (time and money)
- Writing numbers and counting skills
- Calendar skills
-Community signs and helpers
- Fine and gross motor development
- Working together, self help skills, being responsible for personal items, becoming more independent, developing friendships, cleaning up after themselves, and following a classrom routine
-Working on individual goals and objectives based on student needs
-Supporting students when they participate in the general education classroom so they can be successful
