Continuum of Services
The Tamaqua Area School District provides a continuum of services for students with disabilities. There are 3 parts to an Educational Placement:
1. Type of Support (level or time) - The amount of time special education services are being delivered by special education personnel, this may happen in either general or special education classrooms.Itinerant- the student receives special education services for less than 20% of the school daySupplemental - the student receives special education services for 20-80% of the school day.Full time - the student receives special education services for more than 80% of the school day.
2. Type of Service - This indicates the type of support service for the student. It does not matter what "label" a student has, any type of support that the team determines fits the needs of the student may be used.Examples: Autistic Support, Emotional Support, Learning Support, Multiple Disabilities Support, Life Skills Support, Physical Support3. Location of Service - This is the actual place where the child receives their programming.Examples: Neighborhood School, School in the district but not neighborhood school, School in nearby district, Other settings such as private or private facility
