• 7th & 8th Grade Music Class(MR. BUGLIO)

In 7th grade, students will spend one 30 day, 6 week cycle in music class. During that time, students will study the elements of music: melody, harmony, rhythm, form, and tone color through the use of piano keyboards.

Each student will be assigned a Yamaha keyboard on which they will learn basic piano skills. Students will learn to play with both hands a variety of songs in the C Major hand position. An emphasis will be placed on reading music in both the Treble & Bass Clefs. Students will also learn a few basic chords which they can use to accompany very elementary songs.

Students are encouraged to work at their own pace as they progress through Unit 1 and Unit 2 of study.

If a student already plays the piano, selections will be given to that student at their current ability level at which they can work independently.

Students will be introduced to the ukulele during the last 3 days of the cycle.

No homework will be given as the students will have daily practice time.
Students are graded daily on their effort and participation as well as basic skills tests that follow each unit of study.
